Eric Clapton - Change the World (Live)

Just a little taste of what I'm expecting to see and hear...

I've still got some packing to do, a few flowers to plant and 2 season finales to watch!

And then tomorrow I work, go home, get bags and take off... I'm pretty sure this will be my last post until I return. I hope everyone has a wonderful Memorial Day holiday and a lovely week while I'm away :)

Winding down...

Spring has finally sprung way up in the North!
I'm so very excited! This first picture is Geraniums, Mums, Fushias and a Spike. The spike went in the middle of a planter on my front porch and the fushias were planted in hanging baskets for the front porch as well. I can hardly stand it!

This lovely little fern is about as high as it looks here. It is so sweet. I love the little fiddle heads. I enjoy watching them unfurl.

'cause these are the sweetest smelling little Alyssum you've ever put your nose to! I have to have them every year. And! they are so hardy. Which I'm very thankful for, believe me! I've killed my share of flowers!

Oh yeah! Ms Green Thumb didn't know (or chose to ignore the Alaskan rule) about "you should never plant any new flowers until Memorial Day (last Monday of May) or after..." Well 'bout 2 years back my mother-in-law entrusted the care of her gorgeous flower bed to me, because she wouldn't be back from her trip to get them in the ground that ground-breaking day. I planted the whole thing about 3 weeks early... then a frost came, then a little snow.. and Yes.. It All Died! Thankfully, I kept all the little flower tags! I took myself down to the greenhouses and bought what I killed and what did I do.. did I wait.. no sirre! I planted it and you know what happened.. It Died! because a little frost came and some nights were in the 20's... Please People! So, I went down there and bought more and yes.. I learned my lesson after the 2nd death. I waited until Memorial Day and then some and planted those flowers. It was a funny story to tell when she returned. It's even funnier now.. I can laugh about it :)


Another tragic story... Summer '06 this little lovely Lilac (also very good smelling) was covered in blooms. Yay! I decided I needed to trim it back in late fall, 'cause isn't everything pruned then? or early spring? right? Wrong! Lilacs as I just learned set their blooms for the next season 3 weeks after the bloom dies. So if you want to cut it back, do so right after it blooms! Did I have any blooms Summer '07? One little ensy wensy sickly thing.. it was so poor looking.. poor guy..
But this year! Hello Gorgeous! We've got blooms! and you better believe it.. I've been babying it like no other...

Ok... Well as you know we are getting ready to leave for vacation, and I am not going to be here Memorial Day to do my big wake up at 8am, get coffee, and plant 'til I bust! So, I started a week early (I know dangerous right!) but in my defense, I've harden off everything first and it has been warm this past week. I've asked a friend to look after them everyday and water it for me. I hope to see lots of lovelies when I return! A girl can hope! :)

I'm also excited to visit the Indianapolis Zoo and see the Butterflies !
I'm hoping to get some really good shots of them.

With all the talk about Hobby Lobby , I'm hoping to visit one. Maybe I can find some stuff there
that I can't home in AK.

What have you been doing today?

I've watched bits and pieces of
I love Audrey Hepburn. I could watch her movies over and over and over and over... well you get it.

I've got some lima beans w/ham & onions cooking in the crock pot.
I've been listening to Pandora Radio while I sew.

Not much else. I plan on watching Desperate Housewives later and maybe knitting on my market bag that I will be felting (more about that later).

I didn't do any scrapbook activities... but I made some scraps..

This is the 4th outfit in the Spring Wardrobe series. It can be worn with or without the ribbon.

McCALL'S M5306 Size 2

I started this little number way back in February. I needed some help deciding whether or not to add the flower and most everyone said "add the flower." So guess what? You got it! I added the flower and tied a little ribbon around it that can be taken off. If the mother wants to, she can put the ribbon in her daughter's hair.. that'd be nice.

It is going out in tomorrow's mail. I'm so excited. It is going to be a total surprise. She doesn't even know she's getting this one just yet!

This is part of that Spring Wardrobe I was talking so much about earlier in the year .

It just feels so great to have yet another piece done. I have 4 pieces left. I plan to have them all done by May 22nd. Why then? Well we are going on a little vacation! Something about family and Eric Clapton... 23 days until we get on that plane! Ok.. I got side tracked....

These are the 4 outfits I've yet to make. The pattern pieces are cut out and one I have cut the fabric... so I've got quite a bit to do, but it will be fun and I'm anxious to see the final product.

So I know, a bit ambitious.. but she is the only niece I have (plus god-daughter), so I think she deserves a little more, right? Is this a bit too much? I don't know....
