Cinni presented her readers with a challenge combined with a goal of hers... "Draw a picture, yes I said "DRAW" a picture of yourself."

I did this one a while back just playing around. It is me sitting on the beach wishing I was home. I was very homesick and missing Biloxi Beach. To me, it isn't a good place to go swimming, but it is a nice place for me time. It holds a lot of good memories: first date with dh, 4th fireworks, seigning for whatever we could catch, gigging for flounder and just playing around. The Biloxi Beach is also part of a 26 mile beach-stretch that is completely man made and is also the longest man-made beach in the world. Just typing this up makes me want to trade the white snow for the golden sands of home.

This is what I've been learning to do here lately.
Two socks at a time one long circular needle.
These are just my practice socks.
After I get these done, I'm going to start a real pair.
I don't know who will be the lucky person to get them .. Hm..
me? dh? a relative? ... who knows?

Soon I will have some scrappy goodness to show you..

I was intrigued by this lovely totem outside the home of our governor, Sarah Palin, in Juneau, AK.

I like how it has aged and how the wood has split. I love the colors and all the small details.

Out of the Office...

I don't like flying... I love traveling, just not flying, especially in little airplanes that go to hard to get in areas. I don't care how many people have did it and lived and I know it is safer than driving, still doesn't make me feel any better, but I do love traveling so I have to fly.

I'm going to Juneau this morning. It is the state capital and I've never been there. My husband was born here, lived here until he went to college and came back when military career was over and has never been to his state capital. I think that is strange. I'm from Mississippi and I've been to Jackson many times. I know Alaska is a lot different. Juneau isn't a very accessible place. I'm bringing my camera, so I'm sure to get some pictures I hope.

I'm attending a meeting for work, yippie. I'll be meeting new people I've never seen before, but have spoken with tons of times. I get anxious about that too. Crazy me. I know I will be fine. We'll see. They all know each other already. It is hard being the new kid on the block, esp when you are the new kid with ideas...

It is the softest yarn... I just love how it feels.
I'm learning a new technique (for me) called cable.
It is going to be a headband when it is completed and I hope
to have it completed by the end of the week.

The Last Great Race.. The Iditarod

It was a beautiful day today, but very cold! The start of the Iditarod was in Anchorage and the tongues were flying! I do like to see those dogs race by pulling the sled behind them. There is something so north about it. It is a very fun atmosphere and I could feel the happy vibes everywhere. The sun is getting higher in the sky every day and I think that is another source of happiness. We know that the worst of winter has past and spring is approaching.

I got some knitting time in today at Far North Yarn Co. I just love those gals, they are super sweet. I do wish they'd get a website though, so I could spread the love :)

Also got some sushi.. yum yum.. Eagle River has the best sushi around! Shine's Sushi.
