Totem

I was intrigued by this lovely totem outside the home of our governor, Sarah Palin, in Juneau, AK.

I like how it has aged and how the wood has split. I love the colors and all the small details.

I don't like flying... I love traveling, just not flying, especially in little airplanes that go to hard to get in areas. I don't care how many people have did it and lived and I know it is safer than driving, still doesn't make me feel any better, but I do love traveling so I have to fly.

I'm going to Juneau this morning. It is the state capital and I've never been there. My husband was born here, lived here until he went to college and came back when military career was over and has never been to his state capital. I think that is strange. I'm from Mississippi and I've been to Jackson many times. I know Alaska is a lot different. Juneau isn't a very accessible place. I'm bringing my camera, so I'm sure to get some pictures I hope.

I'm attending a meeting for work, yippie. I'll be meeting new people I've never seen before, but have spoken with tons of times. I get anxious about that too. Crazy me. I know I will be fine. We'll see. They all know each other already. It is hard being the new kid on the block, esp when you are the new kid with ideas...

cabled knit headband...

85% Merino Wool, 10% Silk, 5% Cashmere

It is the softest yarn... I just love how it feels.
I'm learning a new technique (for me) called cable.
It is going to be a headband when it is completed and I hope
to have it completed by the end of the week.

The Last Great Race.. The Iditarod

It was a beautiful day today, but very cold! The start of the Iditarod was in Anchorage and the tongues were flying! I do like to see those dogs race by pulling the sled behind them. There is something so north about it. It is a very fun atmosphere and I could feel the happy vibes everywhere. The sun is getting higher in the sky every day and I think that is another source of happiness. We know that the worst of winter has past and spring is approaching.

I got some knitting time in today at Far North Yarn Co. I just love those gals, they are super sweet. I do wish they'd get a website though, so I could spread the love :)

Also got some sushi.. yum yum.. Eagle River has the best sushi around! Shine's Sushi.

I love a good mystery...

Ok, so here's the mystery.. ...
I was shopping at SIStv boutique the other day, I got all kinds of good Hambly for 50% off! I know!!
Their site was having some issues, slow, I had to refresh, yada, yada, yada..
I was successful in checking out..
But when I go to check my email for a receipt, I have two! Yikes!! ....
I'm like.. huh? I know the site is havin' some problems, but hopefully not like this!
So I do what every good citizen does, I emailed customer service
and got a very nice reply from Gary... telling me not to worry, sit back and relax.
So I received my lovely Hambly order and also the mystery order!
I send Gary another email as a reminder, that I'm very worried, I didn't order these things..
poor guy!
So then he fesses up (after my 3rd worried email).. and tells me that I have a secret sister!
Excuse me .. a what?!? huh? did I read that right??
and he was under obligation not to tell, but if I absolutely must know...
I emailed back, with no.. don't need to know right now..
I will give a SISta a chance to explain herself! .. he.. he..
me! getting a surprise! I'm thinking.. did I sign up for this and forget....
kinda like I did the state ATC swap (working on it! I promise)
and is this part of the handmade swap and I didn't read all the instructions?
(I've been know not to throughly read something before)
or... is this a sneaky attempt at Happy Mail! 'cause it did make me very happy!!
but my Happy Mail partner said she sent the packages... hm..
Very suspicious.. Very sneaky somebody out there..
Well whoever you are ... knows me pretty darn well!! I absolutely love it all!
and also knows I love a good mystery..
So, sweet and considerate mystery SISta! Thank you!! from the very depths of my heart,
the thought is truly appreciated and I will have a layout (or a couple) soon
with this wonderful product all over it!!!
